Sept 1st DT Reveal

For this month's DT reveal over at TSF, I created these layouts of a trip to Germany and Singapore last summer. My DT package featured products from Fancy Pants "Road Show" line, including patterned paper, rub ons, stickers, and transparencies, as well as ribbon and buttons.

The muted colours and vintage look of this line really suited these photos of a hot lazy day in the cathedral towns around Frankfurt. For this layout of us in the town of Worms, I added a few things from my stash such as chipboard letters from My Mind's Eye "Lush" line, Kaiser pearls and a Prima holiday lights bird. I also used some chiffon fabric to make a flower and added some teal lace trim.

For this layout I added some card stock for the background and floss for the button bows.

I thought the black and white designs of the "Road Show" line and transparency title really suited these ethereal photos of Singapore's Esplanade. I added card stock for the background, vellum for my journalling and pink brads. I made the folded flowers from the Spring 2010 edition of Scrapbook and Cards magazine.

For this layout I added card stock, vellum and mesh from my stash. I also used glitter chipboard letters from K&Co., mini alpha stickers from My Little Shoebox and Prima lustered leaf sprays.

This little card allowed me to showcase more of the colour in this line. The sentiment stamp is from Studio G and the crochet flower is by my mom! I used my copics to colour in the poodle and added some stickles.

This was an interesting line to work with. I loved the look of the transparencies and the muted colours could really become dramatic when paired with the black and white details.

Thanks for peeking!!

For this week's layout challenge at TSF, I chose stars. I love how they look on a layout. In these layouts I used all kinds of stars, die cut, bling, wood, chipboard and stickers.

The pp is 3 Bugs in a Rug plus I used Thickers, Bisous chipboard letters and My Little Shoebox alpha stickers. The layouts were inspired by a sketch by Karan Gerber.

We just returned from a quick trip to our place in Florida. It is on a lake and this sign is posted out our back door.

We had never seen any gators in the lake, but my DH sees them on the nearby golf course all the time. This little fella was sunning himself on the first tee back in April.

Well during this recent short trip, we saw this bigger guy swimming in our lake!! This shot was taken from my lanai door! Pretty close...

I can't wait to scrap these pictures...maybe use some of the great new Halloween themed papers!!

Sunny Day

In honour of the lovely summer weather we have been having, I chose suns as the theme of this week's card challenge over at TSF. I hand cut a sun and even have the word sun in my sentiment. The adorable chipboard dress is from K&Company.

Friendzy Friday-- Fabric Blossoms

Fabric is making such a huge impact on scrapbooking right now with all the cool flowers and trim. I thought I would try to make my own fabric blossoms for this week's Friendzy Friday..

You'll need some thin cotton fabric, matching thread, sewing needle, and sharp scissors.

Cut fabric into a strip. Mine measured approx. 2.5 inches by 6 inches.

Fold strip in half lengthwise. Begin rolling your blossom from the narrow end. Be sure to hold the bottom tightly.

Twist and fold the layers as you roll up the fabric. Don't worry if the fabric begins to fray. I think that adds to the look of the blossom! You sort of need three hands for this, but do your best. You will be stitching your flower from the bottom so you can catch any stray folds then.

When you are finished rolling up all the fabric, fold over and tuck in some of the edges until you are happy with the shape of your blossom.

Keeping hold of the end firmly, stitch up the bottom of the blossom with the coordinating thread. You may also need to tack down any stray folds.

I then sewed the blossoms onto a small piece of stiff white cardstock to make it easier to adhere them to my card base. Some bling, ribbon, Bella sentiment stamp, and a heat embossed butterfly finished off my card.

Can't wait to see your blossom creations from fabric!

August DT Reveal

It's time for the DT reveal for August. I just loved working with the Sweet Summer Time line from Echo Park Papers. I also received some buttons and ribbon in the DT package. I decided to try some different flowers and embellishments made out of paper too.

Here's my cousin Jen and her little guy Luke. I added BG chipboard letters, trim, buttons, floss and Kaiser pearls. I stitched around the clouds too as I was inspired by Carolyn who did it with such effect with the July DT kit! I also thought these pinwheels would really rock this paper line.

My DH with Kovy and our niece Kylie. I addded a chipboard house and heart from Riff Raff, hemp and some trim.

My dad and uncle Wayne. I added BG chipboard letters, and the folded flowers I pieced following the Mar/April '10 issue of CK magazine.

My mom and my brother Bren's family. I added floss and a Riff Raff chipboard house.

I pieced this house using an old Sizzix die. I added a rub on sentiment from Pebbles and floss.

What a fabulous DT package! I just love the results. Thanks TSF !!
