Boys and their (golf) stories

I just love these photos! This is my crazy cousin Vince and my DH doing the postmortem after a round of golf during our family reunion last summer in Sudbury. It looks like he is telling a "fish" story...so I played with that in the title. I have never seen two guys who can re-hash a round of golf shot by shot!

Simon Says Stamp is having a challenge to showcase your favourite product right now. Well it is no secret that mine is washi tape! Here I used some tape to make these little flags. Fun!

Hallo

I have been busy making a set of all occasion cards for my mother-in-law. She'll like that I made a few in German too!

I added glitter again with a glue pen to accent the stamps so I linked up with the PTI Make it Monday challenge.

Wild about Washi

So I have been going a bit crazy with the washi tape lately! I used this same basic design to make all occasion cards and some Christmas cards. I have purchased several new rolls lately and some of it is from generous shares with my scrappy friends. It is a fun way to keep cards CAS while still using coloured images. I love these hedgies from Penny Black.

I decided to link up with the Simon Says Stamp challenge this week for anything goes plus Martha Stewart tools! I used my Martha butterfly punch on the first few.

Thanks for dropping by...

My first Scrappy Publication

Today I picked up my copy of Canadian Scrapbooker and got a kick out of seeing my layout in there! This is my first ever scrapbook layout publication so it feels like a big deal. Too much fun!

Here's the layout...a real goofy photo from one of our travel adventures.

Here's a detail shot...

Can't wait to show my mom the mag. She will get a kick out of it too!

We are Family

Bronwyn over at Use your Stuff is asking for stars this week! I am not sure if this counts, but I used this great MME paper covered in stars! This is a layout of me and my cousins at our family reunion last summer. That was such a special weekend.

And here's a few close ups...

Thanks ladies for another fun challenge!

Joy to the World

I have been using my embossing folders like crazy on my Christmas cards...a perfect fit for the "texturize" challenge over at LRW. I dyed some burlap with Maya Mist to make this rolled flower.  Everything else is from my wonderfully growing collection of PTI.

Our Big Adventure

The ladies over at Use Your Stuff have a travel themed challenge this week. I can't pass up an opportunity to post a travel layout! This is one I made at Cropfest last weekend.

This is from our trip to Australia last year to visit my dear girlfriend. She took us to a cottage on the beach and we had so much fun!

I used my new Mr Huey's stencil to make this banner.

And I embossed some vellum with clouds. Turned out really cool!

Thanks for another fun challenge!

Not a creature was stirring...

Dee is asking for colouring over at LRW. I have been having so much fun lately using all my PTI stuff to make Christmas cards that I hadn't gotten around to using some of the House Mouse stamps I bought last Christmas. So I brushed the dust off my copics and came up with these little guys.

Thanks for getting me to dig out my copics Dee!

In the meadow...

I had some time last night to make some more Christmas cards and decided to play along with a fun challenge at Crazy 4 Challenges...inspiration from Christmas carols! I adore holiday music so this was fun.

I used a technique I tried before, layering washi tape under chipboard. I love how these turned out!

Here's two more, inspired by a Christmas hymn and using PTI stamps...

And then I went a bit crazy and made a few more, but they don't have Christmas carol themes...

Time for Us

The ladies over at Shopping Our Stash have a cool challenge this week...showcase "your best deal ever." I knew right away what I wanted to feature!

I recently discovered that Homesense sells amazing scrappy supplies at great prices. I got this MME "Time for Tea" pad and can't stop using it. I also bought TWO packs of American Crafts twine there. Yes I went back for another since I love it so much!

This is a layout I did at Cropfest of our weekend in Huntsville in July. Even though we were up north for a funeral, we still found some time for us.

Thinking of You

I had been meaning to send a dear cousin a "thinking of you" type card for a while since there are some tough things happening in her family right now. So nothing like the Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger and Simon Says Stamp "Thinking of You" Challenge to get me going.

Here's the fab inspo photo. I just love rolled felt flowers and the warm fall colours.

Here's what I came up with. I used my new PTI Wreath for All Seasons set, rolled some tiny felt flowers and found an old metal frame I had sitting around.

Thanks for the great inspiration to make and send this long overdue card!

Cropfest Layouts-- Never Forget

I had a such a wonderful time at Cropfest this past weekend with some extremely fun and talented ladies! It was the best time by far I have ever had at a crop! I got lots done, played with some fun products and techniques and above all got a belly-ache from so much laughing!

Here's one of the layouts I did. I used some Texture Effect on the background and gave some love to my PTI chicken wire background stamp. I also made some flags with washi tape and tooth picks!

Here are a few closeups...

I decided to link up with A Passion for Papertrey "inky love" challenge this week since I used my neglected PTI barnyard basics set.

Thanks ladies for such a fab weekend!! Can't wait to do it again!

Christmas Wishes

I love using fibers on my cards so playing along with the Moxie Fab World canvas, cork and burlap challenge this week was easy!

I rolled a flower out of canvas then misted it with some sparkly Maya Mist. Fun!

Huntsville

Last month Sarah over at the Paper Mixing Bowl asked me to be a guest designer for November. I was thrilled to play along. I love her approach to layout challenges...so many elements to consider! Here is the "recipe" I had to work with.

And here is what I came up with...

The Echo Park papers made it easy to stick to the white/brown/black colour scheme. I used butterflies as my elements from nature (plus the photo screams "nature"), I used several stencils with Texture Effect on the background. Plus I stamped the words on the journalling card and some yellow twine counts as a fiber. I journalled about the special time we had in Huntsville, despite the fact we were there for a funeral. Exploring beautiful locations like that with someone special really puts life into perspective.

Here are a few detail shots...
