In honour of Christmas day, Dee has given us the week "off" at Crazy Card Party, so we can post anything we like. I thought a Christmas card would be appropriate.

Crazy Card Party~ Christmas Tag

This week at Crazy Card Party, Patricia is asking to see Christmas tags. Perfect timing since we all just made tags for Rosanne's annual tag swap. I was honoured to be asked to participate this year, my first time joining in. It was very stressful since I know these ladies really pull out all the stops on their tags!

I pulled out all my favourite things...vellum, gold, embossing, burlap!

The bottom layer is PTI cream cardstock. On the back I stamped "to" and "from" with a Mama Elephant set. The next layer is Stampin Up gold vellum. Then a smaller burlap tag, topped with a tiny kraft tag stamped with a PTI "joy" stamp. I got out my Peaceful Pine cones set and stamped the branch and embossed the pine cone with Martha Stewart "copper penny" powder.   Some bells, seam binding, gold thread and hemp cord finished it off.  I purposely left the different layers "loose" so that it had movement and the sheer part of the vellum could really show through. 

Then I made 19 more!

Baby it's cold outside!

I borrowed PTI's Come All Ye Faithful from my friend Regan and went a bit crazy with the dog cards. Here are a few of the many combinations of sentiments, sweaters and backgrounds I made...

Once I was addressing my cards I realised I have lots of dog lovers on my list!

Crazy Card Party-- Snowflakes

This week at Crazy Card Party, it is my turn to issue the challenge and I chose snowflakes. Not that I am craving winter or anything crazy like that. But I just love snowflakes and make most of my Christmas cards with something snowflake related.

I played around with PTI's Snowflake Flurries in a bunch of different colour combos. 

I can't wait to see all the snowflake creations this week and be sure to see what kind of snowstorm the other Party-Ers have whipped up!

Merry & Joy

I thought I would post a few more of my Christmas cards.  This time I really gave my PTI Wreath for All Seasons set a work out. I love how it went so well with my new WPlus9 sentiment dies! It is hard to tell in these photos, but the wreathes are embossed and very shiny and sparkly in real life.

Let it Snow

This week at Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge...anything goes. They are also featuring Lawn Fawn. Well I just can't get enough of my LF "Winter in the Park" stamp set, as you can see! I promise this is the last card I will post featuring this adorable bench and street lamp.

I watercoloured the background with distress inks and then added a wash of iridescent watercolour and then stencilled some snowflakes with my new Memory Box stencil. The sentiment is from Avery Elle-- it goes perfectly!

Papertrey November Blog Hop

I thought I would link up one more card for the Papertrey blog hop, since the theme this month is one of my favourite Christmas card themes...SNOW!

I played around with one of my favourite PTI sets, Pedal Pusher, and created a festive and snowy scene...

 

I embossed the snow on the background and added some glitter paper at the bottom for a "snowy" ride.

Papertrey November Blog Hop Challenge

I think snowflakes are my favourite theme for my Christmas cards. This year I have been having fun playing with my Snowflake Medley set. The Papertrey blog hop this month is featuring all things "snow" so I had to play. I just loved this inspiration photo...

Here's my take on it...I heat embossed some of the flakes in iridescent embossing powder and then rubbed on some distress inks. The sentiment from Snowflake Flurries is perfect.

I played around with some of my new stash last night! I water coloured the background with distress inks and pearlescent water colours. Then I stencilled some stars. I just love that park bench and lamp post!

Crafting with the Core Eight

Hard to believe that it was a week ago when I was having a blast with my scrappy BFFs. I had so much fun playing with different stamps and dies that my friends were very generous to lend me for a bit.

Crazy Card Party-- Rustic

This week on Crazy Card Party, Regs is asking for something rustic. 

Burlap seems very rustic to me, so I decided to start with a burlap tag. I added some leaves I made with Patricia's PTI Leaf Prints set (thanks again Patricia!), some seam binding and a wood grain background. Pretty rustic right??!

Incidentally, this card is for my friend Kathryn. You may remember from a past post that the thank you card I made her back in late August has been lost in the mail. So I made sure to hand deliver this one LOL!!

Crazy Card Party-- Christmas Cards

This week at Crazy Card Party, Dee is encouraging us to get started on those Christmas cards!

I decided to try out some watercolour on my cards this year using a pearlescent set of watercolours from Artists Loft I got at Michaels. They are really shiny in real life. I embossed some silver stars and added some star confetti too. I love that sentiment from PTI.

This morning we woke up to a blanket of white (!!) so I decided to make a card to match the glittery snow outside my window. 

 

I had fun watercolouring with distress inks and adding snow with my new SSS snow stencil. I glittered up the trees and hills.

Crazy Card Party-- Autumn

This week at Crazy Card Party, Patricia is asking for an autumn theme. I love fall, especially watching the leaves change colours in the forest right outside my door. So I decided to post TW0 projects, a card and a layout.

Here is a card I made with Patricia's gorgeous PTI  Leaf  Prints set. I have had so much fun playing with it. Thanks for letting me borrow it Patricia! I embossed the leaf veins and then stamped the body of each leaf with distress markers. The sentiment is from a new Avery Elle set I just got at the Bug!

I also made a few layouts recently when Patricia hosted a great scrappy day at her house. I dug out some old Crate stuff. Here's DJ and I out enjoying the fall colours a few years ago on the trails behind our house...

Crazy Card Party--Ombre!

This week at Crazy Card Party, it is my turn to issue the challenge. I chose ombre! I think I just like saying the word. I love the idea of a gradation of colour from dark to light. 

I did something a bit different with it so I wanted to show you an in progress photo. First I coloured stripes of colour from dark to light on water colour paper.

Then I embossed my sentiment in silver on vellum and layered that over top of the ombre for a really subtle effect. I pinned the layers inside an embossed polaroid frame and added a few confetti stars in silver to finish it off. Love it!
