A Friend is...

I decided to play along with LRW this week. Dee asked us to use at least three flowers.

I made this card for my dear friend Avril who has been under the weather. It is really a combo get well and thank you card since Avril was there for me in my hour of dire need a few weeks ago at Scrapfest. I know you know how absolutely grateful I am Av, but here it is in paper and twine! I  broke into one of the 6x6 MME pads we bought. (Avril you even make standing in endless lineups fun!)  Plus I misted and layered 3 of the Maya Road mistable canvas flowers Avril and I bought and split. Some PTI twine, a Basic Grey button and of course a cute House Mouse image finished it off.

I am also eternally grateful to Jen, Terri and Regan who also came to my rescue, talking to me while I was in shock and giving me what I desperately needed: kind words, hugs and knowing people cared!

Avril I hope you feel better soon! This little token of my friendship is coming to you by snail mail!

Thanks Dee for another fun challenge.

Boca Fun

I thought it would be fun to play along with Shopping Our Stash. This week's theme is things that start with "B." Well these two layouts of fun in Boca Grande in Florida certainly qualify...beach, Boca, bling, boardwalk, bungalows, blooms, banners! I used my last bit of stash of Kaisercraft papers and chipboard. Such a fun line.

Thanks for taking a peek!

Venice

Another grey old day. I thought posting some layouts of beach fun would be just the thing! Here's Venice Beach in Florida. I had this great MME "Good Day Sunshine" line in my stash. Plus I added a rolled fabric flower and a Jenni Bowlin chipboard bingo circle.

And what would a beach be without a "Cool Guy" on the shore!

Hopefully the sun will shine tomorrow!

Friends for a Lifetime

On this grey day I thought I'd post a layout I did over the Easter weekend using Basic Grey's Lemonade line from deep in my stash. I scrapped a great photo of our trip to Sydney to visit my friend Charlotte and her family last summer. Such a special trip, such a special friend.

Here is a close up of a "scrunchy" flower I made by misting some paper die cuts.

And a little cluster of ric rac and die cuts for the corner.

LRW--Spring!

I always love playing along with Little Red Wagon. This week the theme is spring, specifically a spring-like palette. These papers from Basic Grey's Lemonade line are so soft that I thought they'd go perfectly with this challenge.

This is my friend Charlotte's daughter Niamh. We had a fun time getting to know her a bit more on our trip to Sydney last year.

Here's a close up of some of those spring-y colours and elements, such as my mom's hand made crochet flowers!

Thanks Regs for a great challenge!

Life is a Beach

Today I just found out we will be spending a day in Chicago enroute to Germany this summer. Weird you say? Last time I looked at a map, Chicago was in the WRONG direction. My airplane crazy husband loves to do that...means more time on the BIG PLANE. He is certifiable for sure. But I won't complain. Chicago is such a fun place to hang out for the day. This time we will have my 80 year old father in law with us.

So in honour of this great news, I thought I would post a layout of our day in Chicago in 2010. I used Kaisercraft "Seaside" papers plus MLS mini alpha stickers and some tickets from my stash.

I fussy cut some of the great flowers from the papers to play up the "beach" theme. Bet you didn't know Chicago has a great beach right beside downtown!

Can't wait to go back!

Thanks for looking and hope everyone has a great long weekend!

Happy Birthday Kylie

It was my niece's 7th birthday recently. Here's the card I made for her. A little Bella stamp that had never seen ink (!) coloured with my copics.

Happy birthday sweet one!
