Crazy Card Party-- Autumn

This week at Crazy Card Party, Patricia is asking for an autumn theme. I love fall, especially watching the leaves change colours in the forest right outside my door. So I decided to post TW0 projects, a card and a layout.

Here is a card I made with Patricia's gorgeous PTI  Leaf  Prints set. I have had so much fun playing with it. Thanks for letting me borrow it Patricia! I embossed the leaf veins and then stamped the body of each leaf with distress markers. The sentiment is from a new Avery Elle set I just got at the Bug!

I also made a few layouts recently when Patricia hosted a great scrappy day at her house. I dug out some old Crate stuff. Here's DJ and I out enjoying the fall colours a few years ago on the trails behind our house...

Thanks for stopping by and be sure to check out what the other Party-Ers have come up for this autumn theme!

Crazy Card Party-- Halloween!

This week at Crazy Card Party, Avril is issuing a Halloween theme. I made this layout of my mom when we went on a fall colours hike. The colours certainly seem Halloween!

Be sure to head over to see what the other Party-Ers made this week.

Crazy Card Party--Ombre!

This week at Crazy Card Party, it is my turn to issue the challenge. I chose ombre! I think I just like saying the word. I love the idea of a gradation of colour from dark to light.

I did something a bit different with it so I wanted to show you an in progress photo. First I coloured stripes of colour from dark to light on water colour paper.

Then I embossed my sentiment in silver on vellum and layered that over top of the ombre for a really subtle effect. I pinned the layers inside an embossed polaroid frame and added a few confetti stars in silver to finish it off. Love it!

I hope you play around with ombre this week and be sure to check out what the other Party-Ers did!

Celebrate Today

I have been wanting to experiment with some watercolour flowers, using a technique I saw on WPlus9. This week at Simon Says Wednesday Challenge the theme is use watercolour so I gave it a try! I clearly need more practice!

Hope you are having a great weekend!

Merry Christmas

It has been a long time since I played along with a PTI Make it Monday. I wanted to try out this week's theme...dry embossing over wet embossing.

It was a great excuse to start my Christmas cards! I heat embossed some images from Peaceful Pine Cones. The Copper Penny embossing on the pine cones is really gorgeous in real life. Then I added dry embossed snowflakes. Kind of neat!

Thanks for stopping by. Have a great long weekend and Happy  Thanksgiving!

Crazy Card Party-- Chevrons

This week on Crazy Card Party, Kathryn is asking to see chevrons. I love chevrons so I was excited to see this challenge. But I saw a funny thing on Pinterest recently that said "Careful ladies, today's chevrons are tomorrow's shoulder pads and bell-bottoms!" I thought that was funny (and probably true), but still I love chevrons.

I made this birthday card for my dad...I find masculine cards challenging to make, but chevrons sort of seemed masculine to me!

I hope you play along with us this week and show us your chevrons. And be sure to check out what the other Party-Ers have come up with!

YOU are a true friend

I have been having so much fun playing with Patricia's PTI Leaf Prints set. Here's another creation...

I heat embossed the leaf veins in bronze powder, then used distress markers and water on the body stamps for the leaves. So cool! I also embossed the sentiment on vellum with a Simon set that I hadn't used yet.

Thanks again Patricia!

To you from me with love

My very talented scrappy friend Patricia lent me a gorgeous stamp and die set (PTI Leaf Prints) to play with when I realised I had basically no fall-themed stamps! I have had so much fun playing with this amazing set.

It is a bit hard to see, but I embossed some of the leaves with bronze embossing powder and inked up the rest with distress markers. I also tried to make it look like there was a pile of fallen leaves under the park bench with watercolours.

Thanks again Patricia!

Crazy Card Party-- Gold and White!

This week at Crazy Card Party, Rosanne is continuing with her challenge theme of white and another colour...and this time it is GOLD!

So full disclosure...I totally stole this idea from Patricia. She made a card VERY SIMILAR to this first, and I basically copied her idea. Sorry Patricia! It was just too gorgeous not to. And a big thanks to Regan for letting me play with her PTI set Meadow Greens. What a fabulous set, I need to get it.

I mounted the card front on Kraft, I hope that is OK Rosanne!

I sent this card to a special friend a while back who has experienced a significant loss. I also know she really likes gold, so I hope this cheered her up a bit.

Be sure to check out what the other Party-Ers did this week. I am sure they were much more original than me LOL!
