Mother

This week I have been really sick with the nasty cold that is going around. But I found time to get to my craft room and make some mother's day cards. I badly needed some inspiration in my foggy sick state. So the cards I created were inspired by other talented crafters.

I made this card for my mother-in-law...

I was inspired by this card by Rochelle Washington. I just love those embossed chevrons on her background! Since I didn't have that kind of embossing folder, I die cut my chevrons first and then embossed them with tiny dots.On the inside I used one of my favourite sentiments..."you are a blessing to me."

When I showed the card to my hubby, he said "cool chevrons"! I couldn't believe he even knew that word! Seems we brainwash our loved ones into scrapbooking even more than we realise!!

I decided to link up with Simon Says Stamp and Show for  their "inspired by" challenge this week.

Happy Mother's Day to all those mothers out there and I hope my mother-in-law likes her card!

I wish I could lighten your load

My cousin's wife received some pretty devastating medical news recently. I popped this card in the mail to her this week just to let her know we are thinking of her. I linked up with Simon Says Stamp "Happy Mail" challenge this week. Hopefully this can bring a bit of sunshine...on the inside I used my trusty "sending you sunshine" stamp from YNS.

After I was done, I regretted I didn't emboss (maybe lines?) the white background behind the chair since it looks kind of plain here. Next time.

Hang in there Anne and know we love you!

Hope everyone enjoys the sunshine today!

Super Fan

I am excited to play along again with LRW this week...Jayne has a fun challenge to use tooth picks or lollipop sticks. Since I just had to squeeze more washi onto this layout, I made a couple of flags with toothpicks. Kind of went with the sports theme.

Here's another layout of my hubby at his Bruins shrine...

And a few close ups...

Thanks for a fun challenge Jayne!

Hello

I was really hoping I would get a chance to play along with Rosanne's "crimp my style" challenge over at LRW. I have two crimpers so I really wanted to do this challenge. I ran my PTI die cut polaroid frame through my crimper.

Just today I got my most recent Simon Says Stamp order in the mail and had to rip it open and immediately start using all my new product! The Lawn Fawn speech bubble stamp and the MME paper are brand new. So I thought I would also link up with the Simon Says Stamp "anything goes" challenge.

We have a friend going through chemo and I wanted to make her a card to let her know we are thinking of her.  On the inside I used one of my favourite stamps: "sending you sunshine" by Your Next Stamp.

Hang in there Angela and know we are thinking of you!

Old School

I made this card for my hubby's birthday. I couldn't wait to use a new stamp from Hero Arts. The sentiment suits him perfectly too!

I linked up with Simon Says Stamp "Anything Goes" challenge this week.

Have a great weekend!

Boston Bruins

My hubby is a huge Boston Bruins fan and Bobby Orr was his childhood idol. So when we went to Boston a few years ago, our first stop was their home arena and the famous Orr statue.

I thought this layout was a great fit for the Simon Says Stamp and Show "colour" challenge this week.

Here are a few close ups to see the fun colour I added with mists and diluted paints.

Thanks for stopping by!
